Task 2 Day 1
1.) Below is a short explanation of the following programs, and just the basics they are used for: Xampp, CCleaner, Photorazor, Photoscape, Notepad++, HTTrack, .
Xampp
Originally, Xampp was intended to be used by web designers and programmers to test their work on their own computers, without accessing the internet. Xampp is sometimes also used to serve web pages on the internet.
CCleaner
CClearner clears out temporary files, erases browser histories, and basically any unwanted files and invalid Windows Registry from your computer. Instead of just removing everything, it scans for cookies you'd want to keep, like those for Google and Yahoo.
Photorazor
PhotoRazor provides fast and easy way of decreasing the size of photos without loosing quality. One photo can be resized at a time, or several at once. The program also has other features like the ability to rotate images, change them to black and white, etc.
Photoscape
Some of Photoscape's basic funtions include a file viewer, photo editor, slide show creater, batch editor, screen capture program and much more. The program also has functions that allow you to combine multiple images in one frame. Another useful tool includes converting photos that are in RAW format to JPG. The program has built in templates to create photo collages, fumette and Web comics. It also has a standard set of red-eye removal, light/shadow, and contrast-editing features. You can also edit several images at once, combine them, and print them out one at a time or all at once. According to users, the program "lacks only the most advanced of image editing features."
Notepad++
Notepad++ is a text editor and source code editor for Windows. One advantage of Notepad++ is that it allows working with multiple open files. Some of it's general features include tabbed document interface, drag-and-drop, multiple clipboard, split screen, spell checker, file comparison, and many more.
HTTrack
HTTrack is a free and userfriendly offline browser utility. The program allows you to download a website from the internet to a local computer. HTTrack arranges the downloaded site by the original site's relative link structure. It can also update an existing mirrored site and resume interrupted downloads.
FireShot
FireShot can be used to take screenshots of Web pages, annotate them and send them to others. A variety of annotation tools for marking it up can be used, including drawing tools, shape tools, text tools, pointers, the ability to add graphics and more. It also allows you to capture entire page and not just the visibel parts, if it scrolls down past your screen.
FireBug
FireBug integrates with Firefox which allows you to edit, debug and monitor CSS, HTML and JavaScript live in any web page. With FireBug you can also explore the DOM (Document Object Model) and edit it with ease, find errors very quickly, execute JavaScript fast, etc.
2.) Web Developer Toolbar
Using Web Developer, you can get information about page elements like link details, size, attributes and colors. Web Developer can highlight any kind of elements and even has a ruler utility to measure anything on a page. The add-on allows you to validate style sheets and HTML code of a page. Web Developer can also be used to enhance the look of a poorly designed page.
3.) Ctrl + Shift + F
When these keys are pressed together, a "elements information" window pops up. Here, things like attributions, positions, ancestors, children and others can be viewed.
